McDonald’s opens its oil alliance outlet with HPCL at Pune

For the citizens of Hinjewadi, Pune the year 2008 started with the 'Golden Arches' coming to their neighborhood as McDonald's India (Hardcastle Restaurants) on Wednesday opened its first 'Full scale' and 'Free standing drive thru' restaurant at HPCL Retail outlet opposite the KPIT Cummins IT Park. Spread over an area of 2400 sq feet with a total seating capacity of 116 people, this is McDonald's eighth outlet in Pune.

This outlet is the first as a part of strategic tie up between McDonald's and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited to set up and operate outlets. McDonald's would be opening 4 Restaurants at select HPCL retail outlets in cities of Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad and Bangalore and the arrangement will be soon replicated in Western & Southern India.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri S.P.Chaudhry, ED-Retail, HPCL said, "HPCL has segmented customers based on their behavior, lifestyle, perceptions, attitudes etc. i.e., psychographic understanding to deliver the ultimate fuelling experience to the target customer. This new & innovative approach of segmentation has helped HPCL in "winning customers for life" by delivering unique, differentiated and relevant value proposition to the target customer consistently and benefited the customers by providing relevant offers that addressed their specific needs.

 

"Our research has shown that, one of the key needs of customer is hygienic food at the retail outlets. The corporation has entered into several strategic alliances with authoritative partners in the non fuel arena"

The urban household segments have a predominant requirement of Branded eateries at our Retail outlets. "Another USP of HPCL outlets is the "clean and hygienic" toilets branded as "fleurs" which has been one of the basic customer needs expressed by customers traveling on highways. We also plan to set up than 250 ATMs and 50 financial service centers at HPCL outlets across the country in the current year which will complement the Food category Brands."

Speaking on the alliance with HPCL, Mr. Amit Jatia, Managing Director Hardcastle Restaurants Pvt.
