Rupee down 12 paise; opens at 68.49 per dollar

The USD-INR pair is expected to take cues from the equity market and trade in a range of 68.20-68.45/dollar today, says NS Venkatesh of IDBI Bank

The Indian rupee opened lower by 12 paise at 68.49 per dollar versus 68.37 Tuesday.

NS Venkatesh of IDBI Bank said, "The rupee closed weaker against the dollar due to dollar-demand by importers."

"The USD-INR pair is expected to take cues from the equity market and trade in a range of 68.20-68.45/dollar today," he added.

Dollar rose against most major currencies. But, the Japanese yen rose against the dollar as the oil deal left some investors unsatisfied and buying the safe-haven currency.
