Expect a pullback in global markets & in our markets: Udayan Mukherjee

SGX Nifty may not be trading after six months is totally expected given that we stood to lose quite a bit of our trading volumes to the Singapore exchange, I am not surprised that the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) are clamping down on this window, Udayan Mukherjee said.

In a bid to end SGX Nifty and Sensex futures trading abroad, Indian exchanges have come together and have issued a press release. Henceforth, they will not provide data on Indian indices or stocks to any foreign exchanges. Udayan Mukherjee of CNBC-TV18 shared his views and readings on the same as well as his outlook on the markets.

It is totally expected given that we stood to lose quite a bit of our trading volumes to the Singapore exchange, I am not surprised that the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) are clamping down on this window, he said.

We can make up our own minds in the morning about how our markets are going to open without the crutch of the SGX, so it is okay, he added.

On markets, he said that we certainly can have a pullback in the global markets and in our markets as well. According to him, the volatility might linger longer than what we have got used to over the last 12-13 months.

Speaking about earnings season, he said that for Nifty, it would have been a very disappointing earnings season. We are staring at a very disappointing Nifty earnings for FY18, he further mentioned.
