Mahindra launches Sustainability Report with A+ GRI rtg

The Mahindra Group, one of India's top ten business houses, today released its maiden Sustainability Report with an A+ rating from the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI). Centered around the theme of 'Alternative Thinking', the report has been structured as per the internationally accepted framework specified by the GRI.

 

The report illustrates the Mahindra Group's commitment to sustainability and its initiatives in various areas including the environment, energy efficiency, alternative fuel technologies and corporate social responsibility. Some of the key initiatives undertaken by the Mahindra Group as its commitment to the environment include the LEED Platinum Certification for the green buildings by Mahindra Lifespaces, the Mahindra Hariyali drive to plant a million trees, development of alternative fuel technologies at the Group's Automotive Sector, the development of Bio-diesel tractors by its Farm Equipment Sector and the commercialization of energy efficient heat pumps by Intertrade to name a few.

Creating this report was like holding a mirror to practices that have been part of our DNA and our tradition at the Mahindra Group. We believe that a commitment to growth will now be a prerequisite to sustainable global success," said Mr. Anand Mahindra, Vice Chairman and Managing Director, Mahindra Group.

 

The Businesses included in the Mahindra Group's sustainability report range from the Automotive Division, Farm Equipment Division, Mahindra Lifespace Developers Ltd., Mahindra Intertrade and Mahindra Steel Service Centre, Tech Mahindra, MUSCO, Mahindra Forgings, Mahindra Castings, and Mahindra Composites.

 

In a move to reiterate the Mahindra Group's commitment to the environment a conscious decision was taken to have the sustainability report as a web-based initiative only and the report can be accessed on the worldwide web at www.mahindra.com/sustainability , which was also launched today. This website attempts to give a holistic picture of the sustainability initiatives by each of the Mahindra Group's businesses and articulates the Group's sustainability Goals and commitments.
