Mahindra & Mahindra’s Farm Equipment division has been awarded the prestigious “Golden Peacock Occupational Health & Safety Award” for the year 2007 for Excellence in Health and Safety Practices. It becomes a matter of pride, even more, as there were other renowned corporates competing for this award.
Commenting on FES’s achievement of the Golden Peacock Award, Mr. Sudhir Pathak, Sr. Vice President – Manufacturing & Supply Management said, "Golden Peacock Award is the recognition of our conscious and continuous effort towards ensuring the best practices in Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) for all of us. It epitomizes great determination, courage and commitment of the organization as a whole as we chose to take this demanding pledge to achieve excellence. As each award comes with a responsibility, the need now is to become even more vigilant and stringent to ensure that we proactively eliminate the root causes of an accident rather than react to an accident on its outset. Respecting the award in spirit on a continuous basis hence becomes crucial."
Mr. Ashok Sharma, Sr. Vice President, Business Excellence observes “With FES winning the Golden Peacock award 2007; I find that the winner again is the ‘Collective We’. The award is really for us and by us. This award reaffirms our commitment to make FES a safe place to work. The systematic process of managing safety at our workplace seems to have been the main reason for us to win this award. ”
The award is conferred after a thorough and rigorous process of evaluation by independent examiners. This year, the jury was headed by Justice P.N. Bhagwati, the former Chief Justice of India. Golden Peacock Awards are the holy grail of corporate excellence in quality, corporate governance, corporate social responsibility, innovation, training, environment management, ecological leadership and business leadership. They provide not only worldwide recognition and prestige but a competitive advantage in driving business in this tumultuous world. Leadership Awards are determined through nomination.
Mahindra & Mahindra has recently been awarded the coveted Golden Peacock Eco - Innovation Award for its Innovative vehicle – Bijlee, and earlier the Golden Peacock Award for Excellence in Corporate Governance 2006 and the Golden Peacock for Innovative Product / Service for the All New Scorpio.
