Maharashtra, Orissa invite Tata Nano
Just hours after Ratan Tata threatened to pull out his Nano Car project from West Bengal, Maharashtra has extended him an invitation. Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilas Rao Deshmukh, has requested Tata to set up the 1 lakh rupees car project in the state. Orissa has offered a site as well.
'Let the Tata Nano project come to Maharashtra, we'll roll out a red carpet', says the state's Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh.
Deshmukh made a public request to Ratan Tata, stating 'If you have any problems in West Bengal, please come to Maharashtra. Maharashtra is your state and the state government is willing to give you a red carpet treatment. There are areas such as Aurangabad, Nagpur and Amaravati where you can put up the factory.'
He added, 'As far as industry is concerned there is no power shortage, and Tata has its own power company. So, I don't think he will face this kind of a problem. But for any industrial growth one needs industrial peace. If any factory owner has to face everyday law and order problem, there is no industrial peace. So how can he run the factory?'
Meanwhile, Orissa too has announced that it is willing to host the project. Naveen Patnaik, Orissa Chief Minister said, 'When we are approached, and if we are approached, we will certainly consider the matter.'
