L&T wins order worth Rs 1,700 cr from Tata Steel

Engineering and construction major Larsen & Toubro has won a contract worth Rs 1,700 crore from Tata Steel for its new 6 million tonne per annum steel plant being set up at Kalinganagar in Odisha.

Engineering and construction major Larsen & Toubro has won a contract worth Rs 1,700 crore from Tata Steel for its new 6 million tonne per annum steel plant being set up at Kalinganagar in Odisha.

The order was won by L&T Metallurgical & Material Handling, which is a part of L&T Construction.

"As part of the greenfield steel plant, L&T is executing a slew of projects, like blast furnace, sinter plant, coke oven, balance of plant for steel melt shop, hot strip mill, utilities and construction works for other areas," it said.

L&T shares rose post the announcement and were up 1.5% at Rs 1,298.90 on NSE in late afternoon trade.
