Moving onto the turbulence in the aviation sector, State Bank of India (SBI) on Tuesday clarified that with the government injecting capital in the ailing Air India, the airline's restructuring won't hurt banks significantly. On the issue of Kingfisher , SBI, chairman, Pratip Chaudhuri said, that Kingfisher is still a non-performing airline and Kingfisher must find ways to raise more capital.
On being asked, is Kingfisher still an NPA? SBI chairman says, “Kingfisher is still a non performing asset in the books of the bank.” He also said that the bank will refrain from any further lending. He further says that Kingfisher is trying hard to infuse equity in to the airline and the ball is now in Kingfisher’s court.
