Kingfisher Airlines  (KFA)has today cancelled 14 flights in Mumbai and four in New Delhi even as the company is supposed to submit reasons for the same to the aviation regulator today.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has pulled up the airline for sudden flight cancellations without prior intimation to passengers. The DGCA has also asked the airline to have a realistic plan in place if at all it has to cancel flights.

However, KFA resumed its Kolkata operations after the DGCA asked them not to shut down their operations in the city on Tuesday. Four flights started from Kolkata to the northeast region.

The issue came up before the regulator after the airline cancelled over 20 flights on Sunday leaving passengers stranded and the trend continued on Monday, Tuesday and even today. There are reports which suggest that the airline has called off flights because of a pilot crunch but the airline maintains that there are safety concerns forcing them to curtail operations.
