The management of Jetair Pvt Ltd, a leading General Sales Agent for foreign airlines in India, today advised to the Employees' Union not to resort to any agitation and warned that the management will take stern action against their participation in any illegal and unjustified strike.

Presently the issue is admitted in conciliation by the Deputy Chief Labour Commissioner, who has advised the Union office-bearers not to precipitate the matter and resort to a strike.

The Employees Union had served a notice on September 21, 2006 to go on strike from October 5, 2006 demanding that the management frame a bilateral policy for promotions.

The management said GSA business activity is being gradually phased out by the airlines with the advent of e-ticketing. Despite this, the management has been trying to retain the business solely by assuring quality and continuous service.

Apart from heavy financially losses as a result of the proposed strike, the travelling public will be put to a lot of hardship and inconvenience. Therefore, any stoppage because of the proposed strike will be disastrous to the business and may lead to termination of the GSA agreements by different airlines thereby threatening the very livelihoods of the employees and hence appealed to the union to withdraw the strike notice issued on September 21, 2006.
