Jet impasse ends; pilots to return to work

The stand-off between the Jet Airways management and its pilots has come to an end, reports CNBC-TV18. The pilots will return to work with immediate effect.

A new co-ordination committee will be formed for pilots' grievances and both, the pilots and the management will have representatives in the new committee.

The Jet Airways pilots had been on 'mass sick leave' since early morning of September 8, 2009. Half of its pilot staff had decided to not turn up for work calling in sick, a move that debilitated the airline's operations. Earlier, the National Aviators Guild (NAG), the pilots union of Jet Airways had been threatening to go on a strike but on Monday had declared it would not.
