Is Vodafone engaged in two calls?
It is Vodafone-Essar in India but Airtel -Vodafone across the Atlantic. Friends Sunil Mittal and Arun Sarin have joined hands yet again to offer telecom services in two British Channel islands reports CNBC-TV18

They may not be Jai and Veeru but Sunil Mittal and Arun Sarin's friendship has the making of a blockbuster. They first came together in 2005 when sarin through Vodafone placed a USD 1.5 billion bet on Airtel. But the lure of rapidly growing Indian telecom market forced sarin to take a bigger bite. So come 2007, Vodafone exited Bharti for competitor hutch.
But the Mittal-Sarin rapport continues and now the two competitors have turned collaborators for an overseas venture. Airtel- Vodafone are partnering to offer 2g and 3g services in 2 British channel islands. While Vodafone will not pick up a stake in the JV, there is a revenue sharing arrangement in place.
It was only last year that Bharti global, the overseas investment arm of Bharti enterprises won licenses in the 2 islands of Jersey and Guernsey.
Though the subscriber base is smaller than that of Airtel's smallest circle the J and K circle, this move could be the beginning of more international partnerships between these two telecom giants in the future. This deal could raise temperatures in the Essar camp, Vodafone's Indian partner. Infact, the Ruias had earlier raised objections to the Bharti Vodafone infrastructure sharing MOU.
