INtex India's first international apparel Fabrics & Accessories trade fair which sees participation from more than 10 countries and visitors from over 35 countries is to be held for the fourth time in India (Mumbai) from 27-29 March 07 at the NSE grounds. Intex is the first - and only - global platform in South Asia for manufacturers of apparel to source fabrics and accessories for every season. Before INtex manufacturers had to limit their range of exports and manufacture through what was available through the network of dealers and distributors. Intex, held bi-annually, for Spring/Summer collections in March in Mumbai and for the Autumn/Winter collections in Delhi in September, has today established itself as the most important sourcing platform for India and South Asia for the apparel industry. With over 50% exhibitors from countries like Taiwan, China, Korea, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Thailand etc and leading companies from India, Intex will have an array of new and innovative products for the buyers to choose from. The Spring Summer 2008 edition of Intex is appropriately timed in March keeping the flow of buyers in mind who will visit other important sourcing fairs in Asia during that period. Organized by Finesse Worldwide Expositions in association with Clothing Manufacturers' Association of India (CMAI), INtex is supported by the Confederation of Indian Textile Industries (CITI), The Synthetic and Rayon Export Promotion Council (SRTEPC), The Cotton Textile Export Promotion Council (TEXPROCIL), The Powerloom Development and Export Promotion Council (PDEXCIL), Federation of All India Textile Manufacturers Association (FAITMA) with the Textiles Committee as "Knowledge Partner". Rahul Mehta, President of CMAI, feels, "Intex would serve to strengthen the textile supply chain and provide a robust business platform for interaction between manufacturers and suppliers of apparel fabrics, trimmings, embellishments and services with a cross-section of high profile buyers from India, South Asia and other parts of the world. Intex will also be a forum to explore prospective collaborations, alliances and joint ventures." Various Important buyers like JC Penny, Philips Van Heusen Corporation, Kellwood Company and management consultants like McKinsey & Company have projected that India could be the next biggest winner after China due to robust textile industry, IT industry support, design capabilities, etc. Studies have predicted that India could grow apparel exports to 15-18% per annum and reach over US $ 25-30 billion by 2013 if reforms are implemented. For India to achieve these targets it would need access to a variety of fabrics and accessories which are not readily available in India, making India the most sought after market in the entire globe. The previous editions of Intex have attracted on an average more than 5,400 trade visitors from 37 countries. According to Mr. Rajesh Bhagat, Director, Finesse Worldwide, organizers of Intex, "The fair has been organized to meet the exacting standards of other international fairs. It is time that the Indian exhibitions are also organized at par with their foreign counterparts. That is why we have added many innovative features such as exclusive buyers lounge, conference rooms, buyer booths, enhanced onsite facilities to ensure that everyone is successful at this fair." Intex would provide a strong sourcing hub for buying houses, apparel exporters, domestic fashion brands, international fashion labels, large format retail manufacturers, textile mills, fabric importers, traders, industry consultants, design studios and fashion designers.
