Intex Technologies (I) Ltd , amongst the fastest growing company in IT hardware and electronics, has taken a small but important step in generation of green energy by investing in 2 wind mills of 600 KW each at Tenkasi, Tamilnadu. This has been done in an alliance with VESTAS RRB,  Indian arm of the world's largest manufacturer of wind turbines-VESTAS, who has supplied, installed and commissioned the wind mills.

The total  investment in this project is about Rs. 6 crores including cost of and equipment. Financing has been done  from company's internal resources and through a term loan sanctioned by company's bankers-  State Bank of India , New Delhi.  The two mills are expected to generate approximately 28 lacs of electricity units per year which will be supplied to the Tamilnadu State Electricity Board as per a power purchase agreement signed for a duration of 20 years.

"Green energy is a need of the hour in a country like India where there is scarcity of power and an increasing awareness of environmental issues.Wind generated power causes no pollution and also entitles the company to Carbon Credit as an incentive under the international Kyoto Protocol. " says Mr. Suresh Gupta, Director Operations.

"We feel that this endeavor is a great source of renewable energy and will contribute in its own small way to the power generation targets of the Tamilnadu State Electricity Board." he added.
