"Most importantly, our growth potential wil be realised only if we can ensure that our infrastructure does not become a severe handicap. The quality and capacity of our infrastructure is certainly a matter of concern," said Dr Manmohan Singh.

Finance Minister, P Chidambaram echoed the Prime Minister's thoughts. He pointed out that the deficiencies in infrastructure are becoming very visible.

"Infrastructure development is essential to sustain high growth rates in future. In fact, the infrastructure deficiencies have become more visible because of high growth," said P Chidambaram.
