Delhi-based low fare carrier IndiGo Airlines has said it has never flouted any safety norms  by not reporting incidents of snags, as mentioned in a report by aviation regulator, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA)

While responding to reports that the DGCA had pulled up the airline for flouting safety norms, Aditya Ghosh, Indigo's president said that his airline has the lowest flight cancellation rate and its on-time performance is also at par with industry benchmarks at 88%.

He further said, "IndiGo is a very quality conscious airline and passenger safety is paramount to our company's mission and values."

Earlier, the DGCA has criticised IndiGo for instructing its pilots  to not  report small incidents. The regulator had also pulled up the airline for not having enough experienced pilots.

"We have hired highly trained and experienced pilots, far more than the normal hiring ratios," added Ghosh.

Meanwhile Jet Airways too has responded to the DGCA notice and has said that safety is of paramount importance for them too. "Jet's fleet of 101 state-of-the-art aircraft -- ATR 72s, Airbus A 330s, Boeing 737s and 777s - is the youngest fleet in the world with an average age being just over 5.64 years. The operations of our airline are carried out with the highest safety standards.  Jet is in compliance with international safety rules and all DGCA regulatory requirements, " said the airline in a statement.
