iGATE (Nasdaq: iGTE), the Integrated Technology and Operations (iTOPS) company announced expanding its global delivery facility in Chennai. In addition to the existing two facilities in Chennai of over 1 lakh sq ft, iGATE will add a new 1.16 lakh sq. ft facility in the Special Economic Zone at DLF Info City, Nandambakkam. The first Phase of the new facility will become operational in the last quarter of 2008. As part of this expansion, iGATE plans to hire about 500 employees in Chennai in the next 24 months, which will grow its headcount in Chennai to over 1200 employees.
Besides Chennai, iGATE has global delivery facilities in Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Noida in India, Ballarat in Australia, Cyberjaya in Malaysia and Mississauga in Canada.
Commenting on the expansion plans Phaneesh Murthy, CEO, iGATE Corporation said “Chennai is our 2nd largest global delivery facility and is growing both in size and capability. It is a critical component of the successful delivery of our services and provides a strategic support for our growth.”
iGATE also announced the setting up of a Media and Entertainment Centre of Excellence (CoE) in the new facility to build frameworks and productivity enhancing solutions for its key clients in the Media and Entertainment space including the Fortune 500 MGM Mirage, one of the world’s leading entertainment companies.
iGATE has a deep experience of providing solutions that are a blend of IT and process to broadcasting, production gaming and leisure sector of the Media and Entertainment industry. iGATE’s area of expertise include Digital Asset Management; Digital and IP rights management; content management; workflow applications; revenue management and applications for casino’s back office. iGATE uses its integrated Technology and Operations (iTOPS) model to enable a transactional cost model for its clients.

iGATE Corporation registered revenues of $ 307 million in 2007 and ended the year with over 7000 employees.
