IBM India commenced its operations at Kochi on Thursday, thereby expanding its reach to 41 cities across the country. The Kochi unit would enable the company to cater to the unique requirements of the various small and medium business (SMB) clients spread across non-metros in India, Mr Lingraju Sawkar, Vice-President, SMB, IBM India, said at a press meet. Kochi is the first branch expanded by IBM in South India and there are plans to open more such branches at Coimbatore, Visakhapatnam, Madurai and Goa shortly, he added. IBM with its portfolio of products in hardware and software services and open standards compatibility and ISV (independent software vendor) and partner solutions has the capability to address the growing business issues between SMBs, Mr Sawkar said.
