IBM announces The Great Mind Challenge 2007

The Great Mind Challenge 2007 will enable participants to get a hands-on experience on IBM software products, namely (WebSphere Application Server/ WebSphere Application Server Community Edition, DB2/DB2 Express-C, WebSphere Portal and Forms, Tivoli and Rational) and Eclipse which is Open Source on a Linux platform.  The necessary software and materials for completing the project will be provided free of charge by IBM through the web portals and (or) through CDs.

 

The Great Mind Challenge will also provide Faculty Development Programs for college faculties on various topics like Open source, Open standards based IBM technologies and IBM Community Edition software.

 

Mr. Menon further added "The IBM Great Mind Challenge exposes top student programmers across India to open standards-based technologies that are at the helm of innovations across industry, providing them with an opportunity to develop innovative solutions to be used by government agencies, industry bodies and academia. The contest also facilitates recruitment of the participating students into relevant IT positions, as a web repository of all the participants along with their profiles are uploaded for use by IBM's business partners in meeting their staff needs."

 

The company has successfully imparted training on open standards-based technologies to more than 80,000 students across 745 colleges in India during 2006 through the various AI programs. "The Great Mind Challenge 2006" saw participation from over 700 colleges involving 21,000 students and 3,900 faculties from 24 States.

 

Apart from this IBM Academic Initiative also offers workshops and certification programs on various technologies like Service Oriented Architecture, XML, Infrastructure Management, DB2, WebSphere, IBM Community Edition Software etc.
