I-T Dept probing TDS shortfall from mobile cos: Sources

The Income Tax Department is probing the shortfall in the tax deducted at source from mobile companies, sources told CNBC-TV18. It claims a TDS short deduction of Rs 47 crore.

Sources say Chandigarh arm of the Income Tax Department has conducted a special drive during January and February. The TDS inspection was carried out on four mobile companies.

The department is claiming a shortfall on TDS payments by mobile companies. The Delhi and Mumbai wing is likely to verify TDS compliance by mobile companies.
