Telecom subscription numbers for Reliance Communications, Bharti and MTNL are out. CNBC-TV18 reports on how do these numbers stack up.
Last August, everybody was surprised that the GSM industry had added record subscribers, but this time they have upped it again. Overall, the GSM additions have been 4.4 million; this is above 4.1 million that they added last August.
If one breaks it down, Bharti and Reliance are taking the cake. Bharti has added 1.41 million subscribers; this is above the 1.31 million that they added last August. So totally for this quarter, they have added 3.98 million subscribers.
Most analysts had pegged it anywhere between 3.7-3.8 million subscribers. It continues to maintain its leadership position.
Reliance Communications again has come out with good numbers. Putting both, GSM and CDMA together, last time the record was of 1.15 million subscribers, this time they upped it by 1.2 million subscribers. So overall, these two stand out with it.
