Hero has, in fact, unveiled India's first concept hybrid scooter - the Leap. Swati Jhandelwal Jain of CNBC-TV18 caught up with Pawan Munjal on the sidelines of the Auto Expo to figure out Hero's export strategy.
Munjal says that the company is currently focusing on Africa and Latin America and very soon will commence selling in these continents. "Of course, we are already selling in Latin America; we will start selling into Africa also very soon," he says.
With number of new launches across brands, competition is quite on the boil in the industry. According to Munjal, competition has been high not just now, but over the past few years. "The heightened sense of array of launches is merely because it is an expo and everyone is using the platform for launches," he says.
He says that in reality, this is a regular feature and everyone is going to introduce new products in new areas, in new segments. "So are we and we will of course try and hold on to our leadership position," he says.
