Ashok Leyland has confirmed it is looking at setting-up a manufacturing facility for the expanded production of one-lakh trucks a year. As CNBC-TV18 reports, the company is in overdrive with its new launches.

Ashok Leyland has confirmed it is looking at setting-up a manufacturing facility for the expanded production of one-lakh trucks a year. As CNBC-TV18 reports, the company is in overdrive with its new launches.

'Comet' is the 16th truck that Ashok Leyland has launched. It expects to sell 2000 of them this year.

'Comet 1611' is available with fully built body options with starting price of Rs 8.65 lakh and that's not all, more launches from Ashok Leyland are coming in this fiscal. This includes a new truck, tractor and a high-end bus.

Ashok Leyland will launch a luxury bus called 'Luxura' and new generation truck by March next year, priced at around Rs 50 lakh. Also a new tractor will come in by end of this year in the range of about Rs 20 lakh. All these products will be available in fully built options.

On the export front, the company says the focus will be the South African market and will be looking at more acquisitions.
