HCL Technologies emerged as the top player in the first-ever online survey done by AIMA-Yellojobs.com by 14,000 respondents across 180 cities. Unlike many other consumer surveys in India, this particular one reaches out the young Indian consumers who flock the Internet and are aware of the globally services quality levels.

HCL technologies clinched 22% consumer votes to emerge as the winner, followed by Tata Consultancy Services at 21% and Infosys at 19%. The companies were judged on basis of six parameters like Accessibility, Brand awareness, Customer service, Performance, Price and security. HCL scored on factor of brand awareness and Infosys on factor of performance.

HCL, a three decade old company, is still the most preferred choice of consumers. It has global partnership with several Fortune 1000 firms and annual revenue of US $ 4.9 billion. It has also won various awards, notable being the CNBC Awaaz Consumer Award 2007 for being 'India's Most Preferred Personal Computer Brand'.

"It's probably the first such survey that reflects on the opinion of young and upmarket consumers of India. The sample of nearly 14,000 participants are all internet users, have phone connections, and over 73% of them are employed. This is that part of the middle class segment, which is socially networked and has an increasing disposable income that really makes a difference in urban consumption patterns. HCL has topped the list on the parameter of brand awareness. Infosys has been voted the winner on the parameter of performance", said Mr. Vikramjit Singh Sahaye, General Manager, Yellojobs.com India Pvt. Ltd.
