Green dominates Saffronart.com auction

Saffronart's online auction of modern Indian art concluded last night, with dizzying amounts exchanging hands, reports CNBC-TV18.

 

Saffronart.com's two-day long winter online auction of Modern Indian Art came to an end with breathtaking results.

Over 14 works sold for over a crore, the top three being: 'Climat' by SH Raza that sold for over Rs 6 crore, an untitled work by Tyeb Mehta sold for over Rs 4 crore and 'Civilization' by MF Husaain that sold for over Rs 3 crore.

The total sale value of the auction is nearly Rs 70 crore. With 84% of the lots selling over their high estimate and 92% lots sold, this saffronart auction becomes the best performing sale of the year, superceding auction houses like Christie's and Sotheby's.
