"Sweden has the largest internet penetration in the world and the mobile telephony penetration is very strong in terms of numbers as well as usage. The messenger has been designed to be a complete internet communication tool, irrespective of whether it is being used from a desktop or mobile. Considering the high level of internet usage in Sweden and the fact that instant messaging is the fourth most widely used application in the mobile space, we are very bullish about GP-Qrir redefining instant messaging as we know it today," said Mr. Jaydip Deshpande, Managing Director, Geodesic Sweden AB."

Mr. Deshpande also added, "Defining GP-Qrir as a 'messenger' is only a starting point. In a society where mobile telephone is a communication life-line, an attractively priced mobile IM like the GP-Qrir can reduce the monthly outgo on mobile phone bills."

The GP-Qrir is available in Swedish and English.  Customization of news and the  facility to choose areas of news updates like music, politics, sports, films, fashion  etc. is done with a view to cater to the convenience of a variety of age and interest groups. Gothenburg Post and Geodesic are looking at reaching GP's traditional readership base as well as a large percentage of the young population outside the newspaper readership fold.

The GP-Qrir mobile version is currently available on twenty popular J2ME devices. Work is in progress to get the GP-Qrir IM on a host of J2ME, Symbian and Windows mobile devices, thus covering more than 50% of the population in Sweden. GP-Qrir can be used with all service operators without any contract or binding.
