Yahoo extended gains after Microsoft offered to buyout Yahoo! for USD 44.6 billion.
Microsoft's CEO, Steve Ballmer, said, "From a regulatory perspective, I would like to say that a combination of Yahoo! and Microsoft will make a competitive market place by establishing a strong number two competitor and any alternative scenario does not seem to enhance competition. That is the message we will communicate to the regulators."
