Following plans to double flight operations across its network, GoAir, India's smart fare airline, is planning to operate a total of 39 weekly departures from Jammu & Kashmir. The increase in flights in Jammu & Kashmir is slated to commence operations during the winter schedule announced recently. The airline was operating 18 weekly departures from Jammu & Kashmir region. Following the roll-out of new frequency plan in the region, the flight operations are expected to double.

GoAir's Jammu & Kashmir flight operations are flanked across two key airports in Jammu and Srinagar. Out of the total 39 weekly departures that the airline has planned in the region, GoAir will operate 22 flights from its Jammu airport and the balance 17 flights will be operational from the Srinagar airport. According to the new plan, GoAir will be also add new connection between Srinagar and Mumbai through 9 exclusive flights.

Reiterating its commitment to be the only airline in India providing the best domestic air connectivity to the State of Jammu & Kashmir Mr Jeh Wadia, Managing Director, GoAir said, "We are committed to the people of Jammu & Kashmir. Currently, GoAir is the only airline that provides the best connectivity to Jammu & Kashmir. We reiterate our commitment to J&K with 39 weekly departures from the State destinations. Through our Srinagar airport, we plan to operate 9 flights from Srinagar to Mumbai, 6 flights from Srinagar to Delhi, and 2 flights from Srinagar to Jammu. From Jammu airport we will be operating 9 flights from Jammu to Mumbai, 6 flights from Jammu to Delhi and 7 flights fom Jammu to Srinagar."

In Jammu & Kashmir, GoAir recorded 76 per cent growth in passenger traffic during the first half of the current fiscal. The airline is expecting the growth trend to be on an upswing following the addition of the new flights.

The increase in GoAir's flight operations in Jammu & Kashmir is part of the airline's new expansion plan. GoAir is doubling its current flight frequency from the commencement of the new winter schedule effective October 28, 2007. As part of this frequency building programme, GoAir is increasing its flight operations from 259 flights to 561 commercial  flights per week. This expansion plan is being rolled out despite the fact that GoAir has no plans to add new destinations in the current fiscal. The airline is rolling-out this expansion plan across the 11 sectors it currently operates in.

The frequency enhancement programme comes in the wake of GoAir consistently recording highest load factor in excess of 80 per cent during the last few months. Given the escalation in passenger volumes and the new demand generation, GoAir is enhancing current frequency levels by inducting additional flights in its network and provide morning and evening flights in the sectors that it operates in. "Our key objective is to first ensure customer comfort and convenience rather then to add new destinations," affirmed Mr Wadia.
