General Motors India today launched the Chevrolet Optra Platinum, a special edition of its popular luxury sedan.  The Optra Platinum features elegant new exterior accoutrements, stylish new interior elements and an unmatched range of options.  It is available in two new exclusive shades, Icy Blue and Shimmering Black.

"Like the recently introduced Chevrolet Optra CNG, the Optra Platinum demonstrates GM India's commitment to continually exceeding the expectations of our customers in our vehicles and services," said Mr. P. Balendran, Vice President, GM India.  "It builds on Chevrolet's reputation for vehicles that stands a class apart and provide outstanding value for money in their respective segments."

Among other additional features, Chevrolet Optra Platinum sports a platinum badge on the trunk lid,   a chrome kit for the front lower bumper, outer rear view mirror and tail-lamps, a sporty gear knob and a 1 DIN MP3 music system and a rear spoiler.

A total of 250 units of the Optra Platinum will be available at an attractive price of Rs 8, 24, 399(ex-showroom, New Delhi).  Customers will receive a three-year/100,000-km warranty.

Truly an international car, the Chevrolet Optra is sold in more than 100 countries around the globe. In India, the Optra has captured the imagination of discerning vehicle buyers across the country, becoming a leader in the luxury sedan segment.

Besides expanding its carlines, GM India is also expanding its dealership network from 76 to 114 sales points by the end of 2007.  In addition, two new parts distribution centres have been set up in Maharashtra and New Delhi to supplement the two original centres in Gujarat and Tamil Nadu.  GM also continues the extensive localization of its product line-up to reduce the price of key components and reduce the cost of ownership.

GM India is a wholly owned subsidiary of General Motors Corporation.  In addition to the Optra family, GM India also assembles the Chevrolet Tavera, Chevrolet Aveo and Aveo U-VA, and Chevrolet SRV at its facility in Halol, Gujarat.
