Have you ever reached your train station only to discover that the train service is down due to a mega block? Have you found yourself wondering if the trains are running after a particularly rainy night? You can now receive sms updates on all of this and more for free!
MyToday Dailies, India’s largest and fastest growing opt-in SMS service has joined hands with the Western Railway service, to bring you general updates on local and outstation trains within the Western Railways’s jurisdiction. The service will be available to anyone that subscribes to it from 15 August 08.
All you need to do is to sms START WRUPDATES <STATION OF CHOICE> to 09845298452 e.g. START WRUPDATES KHAR. Once activated, you will receive general updates such as mega blocks, train affected services, new services, ticketing facilities and more, from Western Railway free of charge.
Speaking at the signing of the agreement, Mr. Rajesh Jain, Managing Director, netCORE Solutions said, “Our goal is to continually add value to our subscribers. Our tie up with Western Railway will enable us to send our subscribers timely updates on both local and long distance train services.”
How the service works:
1. To activate the service sms START WRUPDATES <STATION> to 09845298452 e.g. START WRUPDATES ANDHERI
2. The subscribers will receive a confirmation and welcome message and will start receiving general updates on the Western Railway free of cost.
3. The service can be discontinued at any time by sending an sms STOP WRUPDATES to 09845298452.
4. The subscriber will not be charged anything for the updates.
5. Only a regular SMS charge as per user’s regular operator plan, for sending START / STOP will have to be borne by the subscriber.
“Western Railway, a pioneer in various spheres, has taken another step in the field of Information Technology. After successfully launching initiatives such as Computerized Passenger Reservation, Internet Booking, Interactive Voice Response System and Smart Card, we will now provide free updates through SMS,” added Mr. A. K. Jhingron, General Manager, Western Railway.
