Welcoming the approval of the Empowered Group of Ministers (EGoM) to 83 SEZ proposals that have cleared all formalities, FICCI has stated that the decision will clear uncertainties and give a clear signal that SEZs are here to stay.
FICCI, in a statement, said SEZs have an important role in today's competitive environment. The clearance of the proposals to set up SEZs with a limit on multi-product zones at 5,000 hectares and the discretion to the states to lower the size below this limit will give flexibility in establishing such zones.
