Below is a verbatim transcript of the interview. Also watch the video.

Q: If you can tell us about the merger of Mangalam Timber? Can give us the time line for the same?

A: Nothing has been decided as yet. Mangalam Timber has sent a proposal only to Mangalam Cement. The Mangalam Timber board has asked for certain clarifications and explanations. It will take some time to decide.

Q: Are you saying that you all may not go ahead with the merger at all?

A: Everything depends on the directors because it is to be decided in the interest of the company and the shareholders. The directors have to go through the proposal and then only we can comment on anything.

Q: But does Mangalam Cement as listed entity hold the significance stake in Mangalam Timber? How much would that stake be?

A: Any company could merge with any other company whether it is of the same line of business or other different kind of business. We have seen so many mergers of this type but before accepting the proposal we cannot comment anything on this.

Q: We just want to know how much stake you already hold in Mangalam Timber.

A: It is very small-2%-3%. Not more than that.

Q: If you can speak about the cement industry itself. What kind of price trends are you noticing? Do you expect you are going to see price cuts? Will you all be announcing price cuts in the current month and the coming months?

A: Already monsoon has arrived and monsoon is always a bad period for cement industry. There will be a cut in price. Especially in our area in Mangalam Cement we operate in NCR region, in Rajasthan and MP, due to this Common Wealth Games and restrictions on truck movement in this area the prices have fall, the demand has gone down and monsoon will also get some price cuts.
