The bidding for BSNL 's mega GSM tender to add 45.5 million lines has started. According to a report from Reuters, Ericsson has emerged as the lowest bidder, reports CNBC-TV18. Sources say that Ericsson has bid lower than USD 110 per line.

This is one of the biggest telecom tenders for GSM lines out of which, 18 million lines were reserved for ITI. For the remaining 45.5 million lines, five global majors namely, Nokia, Ericsson, Motorola, Siemens and ZTE had submitted their bids.

This means that now ITI will have to match Ericsson's bid.

BSNL's mega GSM tender for 45.5 million GSM lines is estimated to be worth Rs 20,000 crore. Five bidders were technically evaluated and the final contract will go to two bidders.
