Going cashless: India home to 80 cr digital cards, says Prasad

In conversation with CNBC-TV18, Ravi Shankar Prasad, IT Minister, said the demonetisation drive is a transformative programme to make India more honest.

The government is on the path to make India a cashless economy and Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his team is leaving no stone unturned to bring this change.

In conversation with CNBC-TV18, Ravi Shankar Prasad, IT Minister, said the demonetisation drive is a transformative programme to make India more honest.

He also said that India is home to 80 crore digital cards which includes RuPay and credit/debit cards. Close to 36 crore bank accounts are linked to Aadhaar.

Government has involved common service centres in a big way.

"Let a digital movement start in the country," said Prasad.
