Swati Piramal, President, Assocham said, "All industries felt that the fiscal stimulus should continue for a while because the recovery was fragile, and that it needs to be more robust. Especially our export led industries for which the global recovery is slower, they demanded that the fiscal stimulus continues for a while."
Commenting on direct tax, she said, "We also mentioned about direct tax and its anomalies, difficulties and its challenges particularly related to taxing assets and saying that investment decisions were being postponed. We all said that we want GST and we want an equitable, efficient and transparent tax as quickly as possible."
