DaimlerChrysler India today announced its year-end sales performance for 2007. The company has sold an impressive 2491 units in India from January till December 2007 (18% growth over 2006).

 

The new S-Class proved to be the hottest selling luxury sedan in India.   Powered by locally manufactured petrol and diesel variants as well as imported options, a total of 457 S-Class cars were sold in Jan-Dec 2007. This marks a growth of 84% over 2006 (248 units of S-Class sold in 2006).

 

The new-look E-Class (introduced in Dec 2006) proved its mettle on Indian roads and netted record sales of 1137 units in 2007, a growth of 24% over 2006.

 

In the segment of Completely Built Imported cars, the company has set a new record of a 74% growth over 2006. This accounts for the models like the CLS-Class, SLK-Class, SL-Class, M-Class, CL-Class. The most popular car in this segment was the rugged SUV, the Mercedes-Benz M-Class (62 units) which made its market debut in 2007.

Keeping in view the customer expectations, Daimler has continuously widened the product portfolio of its Mercedes-Benz brand offerings for the Indian market. The company manufactures the S-Class, E-Class and the C-Class cars in its facility in Pune, India. Other products that are offered as Completely Built imported cars include the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, E-Class, M-Class, CLS-Class, SLK-Class, SL-Class, and the CL-Class.

 

The company is the first automobile manufacturer to have its entire network certified as ISO 9001:2000. Its well-entrenched sales and after-sales service network extends across 28 cities in India.
