Moving forward on Dabur India's efforts to rein in counterfeit products racket, a manufacturing unit involved in the production and packaging of fake Dabur Amla Hair Oil has been raided. The raid was conducted by officials of Delhi Police at Sadar Bazar Thana area. Accused Kanhaiya, Manager of the facility at No. 7509 1st Floor, Kabrowali Gali, Kurush Nagar, Sadar Bazar, Delhi, has been arrested, however the owner Satish Kumar is absconding.  

During this raid, over 3,600 fake Dabur Amla hair oil bottles, 40 litres of ready to fill oil, one 500 ml scent bottle and nearly 62,600 labels of Dabur Amla hair oil were seized. The fake goods seized at Kabrowali Gali, Kurush Nagar, are estimated to be worth over Rs.15 lacs. Keeping similar raids in count conducted during the past 3 months, raids of this magnitude establish the popularity of Dabur Amla Hair oil.

The company systematically, has been targeting such counterfeit manufacturers. Through the initiatives of Dabur India, 2 raids were conducted in the month of October at Timarpur and Daya Basti districts and 1 in December at Nabi Karim area. During the raids in the past, fake goods worth Rs. 80 lacs in addition to 3,600 fake Dabur Amla hair oil bottles, over 62,600 labels and 40 litres of hair oil were seized. A Dabur India spokesperson said the Company now has mapped out the locations where these activities take place and is going after them systematically. Leads have been obtained on packaging and label suppliers as well and that Dabur India will spare no efforts to get them all behind bars.

Raids of such magnitude are an effort to tackle the problem of fake products entering the Indian market, which result in an annual loss of approximately Rs 30,000 crore to the industry and Rs 15,000 crore to the Government. The FMCG industry alone has been facing losses of over Rs 2,600 crore per year, due to the counterfeit products.
