Cummins to make India global hub for small gensets
The power generation business unit of Cummins India Ltd has commissioned a new plant at Pirangut for the manufacture of generator sets from 7.5-140 kVA for both the domestic and overseas markets, reports Business Line.
Mr Tony Satterthwaite, Vice-President, Worldwide Genset Business, said the company was growing rapidly in the smaller range and the new product range matched up to global standards and would help Cummins penetrate the market dominated by the Caterpillar group.
Adding that small gensets were also being manufactured in the UK and the US, he said, "We will be consolidating the business, and much of the UK volume will (in time) come here."
The commissioning of the new facility has enhanced the capacity of Cummins Power Generation India to 70,000 units per annum.
