Coinciding with the World Cup 2007, California based PayPod Technologies has launched CricTV.com, the first Social Video Network for Cricket. The site (CricTV.com) has been designed and developed by PayPod's development team in Chennai.

 

Co-founded by Sashi Chimala (founder of Qwiky's Coffee), CricTV.com will serve as a video sharing platform (similar to popular YouTube) where anyone can post their personal cricket videos, video blogs and personal opinions. A community network that is intended to motivate people to watch, share opinions, special moments and videos on Cricket, CricTV.com is a place for people to engage in new ways with video by sharing, commenting on, and viewing videos.

 

Sashi Chimala was part of the founding team of Covansys (NASD: CVNS), founder of Indigo Technologies (later acquired in a 2-way deal between SSI and NASDAQ) and the founder of Qwiky's Coffee, a pioneering retail venture in Asia.

 

Mr. Sashi Chimala, co-founder, CricTV.com said, "The YouTube of India in the making, CricTV.com will be a platform that connects cricket fans worldwide."

 

"We have had a warm and overwhelming response of over 3000 requests for the registration invites during our two month long private testing phase. We have now opened the site for everyone to enjoy and share" he added.

 

CricTV.com is completely free. Members can watch videos and share them with friends. They can register for free to upload their own videos and comment on other's videos.

  • Budding cricketers can promote themselves on the site and be discovered by Coaches and Cricketers

 Uploading and sharing video is easy, and requires the following:

 

·        Internet access or a data plan from a mobile service provider

·        A member account on CricTV.com

·        Registered users simply upload a video from their computers, and CricTV.com handles the conversions behind the scenes. Videos are turned into a Flash video, making them viewable through every major Web browser, including Internet Explorer

·        Members can log into their account and upload their video clips to CricTV.com

·        Videos can be searched by entering common search terms, or can browse through videos based on channels of interest, popularity, user rankings; most recently viewed videos and featured videos selected by community recommendations

 

CricTV.com also provides free live scores and news on ongoing cricket matches. Members can also get free live scores and top-10 video clips on their mobile phones.
