Greece will credibly apply a programme to tackle its fiscal deficit, Prime Minister George Papandreou said on Friday.
"I can understand the doubts, but that's why we have to prove. We will credibly apply this programme," Papandreou told reporters in the Indian capital, where he is on a visit.
A debt crisis in Greece and other southern states has sent shockwaves through euro zone markets and stoked fears of social unrest in the country.
The International Monetary Fund has offered to help Greece, though Athens has said it will not ask the IMF for assistance.
