Countdown for CFO of the Year begins

The countdown has begun for the 2nd CNBC-TV18 CFO Awards , which will be held on Thursday evening. If it was tough for the jury to choose the best performing CFOs in their respective sectors. The debate over the coveted CFO of the Year award was even more intense. CNBC-TV18 gets you some jury round drama.

 

It took less than three hours for the jury to select the best CFOs in eight sectors. In most categories, the choice was unanimous. However, this was not quite the case when discussions to select the CFO of the Year from these eight winners started. The debate was lengthy and at times heated. It ultimately boiled down to consistent performance of the CFO and the company over a period of time.

 

The jury also evaluated the leadership role played by CFOs in setting direction for the company. But even after an hour of debate, the jury could only narrow it down to two names. It finally came down to a vote among the jury members, which though close, finally produced a winner.

 

Anil Singhvi , Former VC, Ambuja Cements , and Jury Member, CFO Awards, said, "To choose the CFO of the Year was not easy. There were around five CFOs who competed very well."

 

Akhil Gupta , Joint MD , Bharti Airtel , and Jury Member, CFO Awards, said, "It was a tough choice because all of them were heavyweights who had done well."

 

Mohandas Pai , Director-HR, Infosys , and Jury Member, CFO Awards, said, "The debate was between CFOs who had done something remarkable and CFOs who had done something different in a short time."

 

At the end of the four-hour marathon to select the winners, the jury members could afford a smile for a job well done.
