With less than 72 hours to go for the second CNBC-TV18 CFO awards , there are more than a dozen awards to be given in different categories, reports CNBC-TV18.

The first category consumed the maximum time of the jury - the financial services sector. With CFOs of HDFC , ICICI Bank , SBI and Reliance Capital in the fray, it was a tough one for the jury. Another difficult category for the jury was the technology sector, filled with heavyweights.

TCS CFO, Mahalingam , Infosys' Balakrishnan and Suresh Senapathy of Wipro are all vying for the honours. There was one question weighing heavily on the jury 's mind, which was on which CFO managed the rupee appreciation better.

FMCG and retail was a toss up between HLL CFO, Sundaram , ITC 's K Vaidyanath and Ravi Nedungadi of UB Group , who played a key role in the billion dollar acquisition of UK-based White & Mackay .

In the metals category, the spotlight was firmly on two blockbuster M&A 's worth almost USD 20 billion. Tata Steel 's Kaushik Chatterjee, who helped the company acquire Corus, in what was the biggest ever acquisition by an Indian company. Hindalco 's Talukdar played an important part in the USD 6 billion plus acquisition of Canada-based Novellis .

The automobiles sector witnessed a keen tussle between M&M 's Bharat Doshi and former Tata Motors CFO, Pravin Kadle , who is now heading Tata Group 's private equity venture - Tata Capital . In the infrastructure sector, L&T's YM Deosthalee and GMR infrastructure 's Madhu Terdal were the main contenders.

Said Akhil Gupta , Joint MD, Bharti Airtel and Member, CFO Awards Jury, " Almost every sector was competitive. It was not at all easy picking the winners."

For the name of the winners, you will have to wait till Friday- November 22, when the country 's best CFOs will be declared.
