Continental Airlines ( NYSE: CAL) is offering customers travelling across the Atlantic on qualifying BusinessFirst tickets complimentary fares for the eight-minute scheduled helicopter transfers between its New York hub, Newark Liberty International Airport, and two locations in Manhattan.
"Continental already offers the most convenient way to get to Manhattan, thanks to our modern fleet and our New York Liberty hub, with its exclusive customs and immigration facilities and AirTrain service to Penn Station in Midtown," said Jim Summerford, the airline's Vice President Europe, Middle East & India. "Thanks to our partnership with US Helicopter, getting to Manhattan is now even quicker – and at no extra fare to our highest-yield customers."
The offer applies to BusinessFirst customers travelling to New York on fares booked in the airline's J and D class of service and originating from any of the 29 cities in 16 countries in Continental's trans-Atlantic route network.
Customers travelling on return tickets qualify for complimentary fares for helicopter transfers in both directions between New York Liberty and Manhattan; those on one-way tickets qualify for a one-way transfer. While the fare is waived, customers are liable for applicable taxes. The offer is subject to availability and to changes or cancellation at any time. US Helicopter has a different baggage allowance policy than Continental. For details, visit www.flyush.com.
Since December 2006, under a partnership with US Helicopter Corporation, Continental has been providing eight-minute shuttle service between its New York Liberty hub and two Manhattan heliports: the Downtown Manhattan Heliport at Wall Street, and the East 34 th Street Heliport in Midtown.
Continental customers arriving at New York Liberty and travelling on US Helicopter's service to Manhattan proceed to US Helicopter's departure gate 71 at Terminal C. Baggage is automatically transferred via US Helicopter to the destination heliport in Manhattan.
Departing Manhattan, US Helicopter customers traveling on Continental flights are able to conveniently check in, receive boarding passes for US Helicopter and Continental and complete TSA security screening at either the Downtown Manhattan Heliport or the East 34 th Street Heliport. Bags checked at the heliports will be through-checked to the Continental customer's final travel destination. After the eight-minute flight to New York Liberty, customers arrive at a dedicated US Helicopter parking location on the secure side of Terminal C where they proceed directly to the departure gate for their Continental flight.
US Helicopter operates scheduled flights Monday-Friday, every business day.
