The Supreme Court on Wednesday pulled up tech giants Google, Yahoo and Microsoft over sex determination advertisements on their websites. The three companies have been told to device a plan to identify and ban such content.
The apex court told the companies to be more responsive on such issues and to respect Indian laws.
The search engines told the SC that they are merely intermediaries and are not responsible for third party content. However, they are actively working to remove such ads but cannot vouch for search results on the site.
A PIL was filed with the SC that seeks to ban online content about sex determination kits.
