Religare Group has been affected by virus attack, a company spokesperson confirmed.
The company declined to comment further on the virus attack but said that they are assessing the severity of the attack.
"We are assessing the situation and will come back to you with details. However, our systems, operations and client information remain unaffected and secure," said the spokesperson.
The companies that feature under Religare Group are Religare Enterprises Ltd, Religare Finvest Ltd and Religare Housing Development Finance Corp. Ltd.
In May, a nasty new ransomware strain began infecting PCs around the world. The malware, called NotPetya, spread faster than the notorious WannaCry ransomware.Ransomeware is a malicious software designed to block access to a computer system until a sum of money is paid. It encrypts files stored on the user's computer or mobile device and renders it unreadable by the user or the device. In order to restore it for normal use, a decryption key is needed to unlock the file.
