Paytm Mall revamps seller platform to focus on quality; delists 85,000 vendors

According to the company’s new policy, sellers will now have to mandatorily furnish brand authorisation letters before being able to sell their goods on the online platform.

Paytm Mall, the online retail arm of Paytm e-Commerce, has weeded out about 85,000 sellers in order to raise quality standards on its new platform, reports Business Standard.

The step was taken after it found out that these sellers were selling goods which did not meet Paytm Mall’s quality standards.

According to the company’s new policy, sellers will now have to mandatorily furnish brand authorisation letters before being able to sell their goods on the online platform.

Sellers will also undergo stricter quality and service audits including their registration number, physical location of the establishment, Goods and Services Tax (GST) identification number, photo of the shop etc.

With the latest revamp, Paytm expects to make user-experience better on its website to be able to compete with giants like Amazon and Flipkart.

Paytm Mall had recently shifted about 800 employees from its parent organisation Paytm to expand operations. The company will also be hiring approximately 2,000 employees for operations ranging from marketing, business development and back-end tech.
