Oxfam, the international confederation of 18 NGOs, has come out with their second edition of "India Responsible Business Forum Index". The report analyses the policies of top 100 BSE listed companies through a lens of social inclusion.
The main parameters for the index are decided around social inclusion, available disclosures and company policies.
Earlier, these were voluntary guidelines but now it has been made mandatory by SEBI to follow these guidelines, said Nisha Agrawal, CEO, Oxfam India in an interview to CNBC-TV18.
The report not only looks how India Inc is spending on corporate social responsibility but also looks at how they treat labour, how they treat other stakeholders etc.
While making the report we look at whether the companies are focusing on a more inclusive pattern of development, said Agrawal.
There have been some improvements, but a lot more needs to be done on all fronts, said Agrawal.
The criteria for ranking is decided on parameters like non-discrimination, employee dignity and human rights, community development, supply chain inclusiveness and community as stake holders.
