Alstom-Bharat Forge Power bags Rs 1,570cr NTPC order

Alstom-Bharat Forge Power (ABFPL) today bagged a Rs 1,570 crore order from National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC)'s Solapur project. The order involves engineering, manufacturing, supply, erection and commissioning of the 2x660 mw supercritical steam turbine generator islands (TG Island) for the upcoming project.

Alstom-Bharat Forge Power (ABFPL) today bagged a Rs 1,570 crore order from National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC)'s Solapur project. The order involves engineering, manufacturing, supply, erection and commissioning of the 2x660 mw supercritical steam turbine generator islands (TG Island) for the upcoming project.


ABFPL is a joint venture between Bharat Forge and Alstom, which is a global leader in power generation, transmission and rail infrastructure. Last year, ABFPL had emerged as the lowest bidder in NTPC's bulk tender for supplying 11x660 mw supercritical TG islands, a release said here. This tender was the largest-ever power equipment procurement initiative in the country, it claimed.


"Besides this award for the Solapur project, as per the tender conditions, ABFPL is expecting to shortly get an additional order for three units for the Nabinagar project from Nabinagar Power Generating Co (NPGCPL), a JV  between NTPC and Bihar State Electricity Board, the  release said, adding the LoI for this project is already with ABFPL.

ABFPL's state-of-the-art integrated facility with an annual capacity of 5,000 mw is expected to be commissioned at Mundra in Gujarat by 2013, the release said.
