The Supreme Court has directed New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) to reconsider auction as well as lease extension of the iconic Taj Mansingh Hotel in the capital city.
In November last year, the Apex court had directed that status quo be maintained in regard to NDMC’s auctioning process of the hotel run by Indian Hotels company.
Earlier, the Delhi High Court has dismissed Tata Group’s appeal to retain management rights over the hotel and had asked the company to participate in the auction process.
The high court, in its verdict, had dismissed IHCL's plea saying the company has "no right" for renewal of the licence period and the NDMC was "within its power" to secure maximum consideration for grant of license for the hotel.
