After relentless reporting over the safety and quality of drugs through CNBC-TV18’s "Bad Medicine" series, the government is finally cracking the whip.
The central drug standards authority has issued a notice to revisit the Drugs and Cosmetics Act and Rules, reports Ashmit Kumar.
The Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSO) has also sought responses from 36 state regulators and is expecting a reply by June 21.
According to people in the know of the development, the regulator will now focus on key parameters such as safety, quality and efficacy of drugs.
